Our sweet Kate!

Ahhhh! another powder day at the Beav

So sorry you are all out of state....cause Utah has the best snow in the world!!!!
Nathan and I skied untracked powder all day...I'm soooo happy that I learned to ski and had the good sense to marry someone that shared the "passion" for white fluffy turns in freezing weather. (he, he). These are the days that make the LOVE blossom! OK, OK....a little sappy? I'm laughing at myself, but it's true. What can I say?

January in Florida - Pinewood Derby, Runners Club and more

Jan 17-21st - Lotusphere
the annual IBM Lotus conference was this week. Deidre and I worked for one of my clients from New Zealand. They were very happy with the results and want us to continue helping them. It was a lot of fun and hopefully signaled a turning point in my marketing business. Many companies asked for me to contact them and begin working with them. Many of the guys were surprised that Deidre was not a "booth babe". She knows what the product does since she has also does sales calls for this company. Of course she will always be my booth babe!

Jan 23rd
Boys will be boys. And they never tire... at least until its time to do chores or at the end of the race. Slade and Apolo are part of their school's runners club. They have 1/2 mile races against other kids from other schools. Apolo has placed 15th and 8th - good enough for two medals so far. Slade has tougher competition and has missed a medal by one place each time. He probably would have received a medal from the last race but Dad miscounted how many kids he needed to pass to get into a medal position. He passed exactly the number of kids I told him to pass. OOPS! Sorry again Slade.

Jan 30th

Slade competed in the annual pinewood derby for his 2nd year. It was going to be hard to top last year since he beat out everyone in his pack with a very fast car. So this year when his car didn't do so well, Mom had to hold him tight. But in the end he was okay. His car did place 3rd in the consolation bracket - so a trophy came home and that seemed to make his day afterall.

Apolo competed against other siblings who are not part of the pack. His car did really well and he placed 2nd.
Enjoy a couple of pictures and the videos. Slades' car is the black and yellow car in the far lane (lane 1). In the video his car places 5th in this heat as you will see.

A couple of funny things for all -
1.Cat in the bag. Deidre's nephews came to spend a weekend with us. As soon as they put down their 'luggage' our little Tiger Lilly quickly called their bag her domain and moved in.

2.Florida snowball fight -- unbelievable. You gotta see this one. (just watch the video and you will see).

That was January for us. I hope it was just as eventful for everyone else.

Snow in Florida & Manatees

Well the cold is not anything new to everyone. But here in Florida it is. It is not exactly Utah snow but it is not our typical rain either. In some parts there were "snow" flurries. Thats florida talk for sleet and a little frost on the car. Still there were some who had fun with our "snow" by making tiny snowmen. I took this picture off a local news site.

With the cold, comes the manatees. They swim into the various springs to keep warm. The water coming out of the springs is always 72. Much warmer than the water in the rivers. So they swim up and "park". I posted some pictures for you to see. I uploaded a couple of videos.

We had a nice afternoon at Blue Springs State Park. If you have been to see us in Florida we have taken you there on the boat. Enjoy the pictures and a couple of videos.

PS... Alysha started driving this week with her learners permit... at least 50 gray hairs appeared on my head.... :-)
